Local Industry
Grimsby is known as the Food Capital of Europe with many of the major frozen food producers represented here.
There is still a small fishing fleet and a major fish market is held daily. The docks, however, are mainly import and export, and when included with Killingholme and Immingham, they form some of the largest docking facilities in Europe.
One of the major imports is cars, with many of the main European manufacturers choosing to send their cars through our ports. A brand new terminal at Killingholme is due for completion in the late Summer of 2005 in a joint venture between local group G.B.A. and Kia Cars.
Another major industry is the oil refineries with Lyndsey Oil and Conoco represented. In addition to the regular jobs these companies provide, there are frequent short term jobs when the refineries shut down for regular maintenance.
The guest house is within 10 - 15 minute drive of all of these places if you are working in these areas.
